Situated a few kilometres along the Adriatic seafront from the bigger town of Rimini, the resort has become a watchword for chic and style but still offers great value for money for holidaymakers on a budget.

In spring and late summer the climate is perfect for training and holiday activities without the more hectic activities of the full summer season on the popular Adriatic Riviera.

Within a short drive or cycle ride can be found the delights of Italian renaissance towns such as Urbino, and Ravenna, while San Marino remains a big draw for all visitors to the area.

Away from the magnificent seafront, Riccione is in the Emilia Romagna province of Italy that is renowned for its stunning scenery and challenging terrain with delights around every corner.

Transport connections to Riccione could not be easier with airports at Rimini, Ancona and Bologna serving the region.

The town is also on the main Adriatic mainline with train connections to every major Italian city, while coming by car it is conveniently close to the motorway network linking the north and south of Italy.

Local and regional bus services are excellent while car hire is inexpensive.

For the multi-sports athlete the main attractions are the climate, the state of the art facilities at the Riccione Aquatic Centre, which was base for the American team ahead of the 2009 World Swimming Championships, and a municipal running track that is used by elite athletes.

The challenging terrain for organised cycling, excellent footpaths for running with the warm and safe waters of the Adriatic for open water swimming, all on your doorstep, Riccione is just perfect for training and holidaymaking.
